“The Genius” Lanny Poffo Passes Away At 68

We have tragically lost another member of the pro wrestling community. Lanny Poffo has passed away at 68-years-old.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan broke the news via Facebook that Lanny Poffo has passed away.

Poffo started his wrestling career in the 1970s and established himself as a talented high-flyer, performing acrobatic moves that were well ahead of their time. He was known for his moonsaults, backflips, and other daredevil stunts, which made him a favorite with fans. It also earned him the nickname “The Genius.” This was thanks to his gimmick where he would recite poetry in the ring before matches.

During his legendary career, Lanny Poffo had many battles, including “Ravishing” Rick Rude, Honky Tonk Man, and “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase. He also had a memorable run in WCW, where he was a member of the stable known as the Dungeon of Doom. During his time in WCW, Poffo feuded with top stars such as Sting and Lex Luger, and was a key player in several of the company’s biggest storylines.
