Cameron Grimes went through a few different incarnations of his character in NXT. After a long, and impressive, run in WWE’s developmental system, it seems that they’ve done all they can with him. Now it’s up to the main roster creative team to get something ready for him.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Cameron Grimes is finished in NXT. That being said, there is no spot for him on the main roster just yet, so they are waiting with him in “limbo.”
Okay, so the deal was that Cameron Grimes was finishing up in NXT, because he was getting called to the main roster. Then, right now, what’s going on is they are waiting for an idea for the main roster. He’s in limbo. He’s done with NXT, and he’s supposed to be on the main roster, but they don’t have anything for him, so they’re not going to do it yet.

WWE has called up plenty of Superstars from NXT to the main roster without a real plan in place. They have also released some people who were poised for that main roster call-up, like Bronson Reed. Obviously, Triple H doesn’t want Cameron Grimes to be a failure on the main roster.
