Road Dogg Pushed For A Ruby Soho Title Run In WWE
The AEW standout Ruby Soho had all the skills to become a top WWE superstar. She was previously thought of as a future WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion, according to Brian James, aka Road Dogg.
At WWE Fastlane 2018, Ruby Riott unsuccessfully contested against Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Title. In addition, she was defeated by Ronda Rousey in RAW Women’s Championship matches at Elimination Chamber 2019 and on the show’s episode the following night.
When Ruby Soho and Charlotte Flair fought up on SmackDown in 2018, Road Dogg was the head writer of SmackDown. The Hall of Famer disclosed recently in his Oh You Didn’t Know? the podcast that he intended for the former Riott Squad commander to hold the title one day.
“Ruby Riott had SmackDown Women’s Champion written all over her with The Riott Squad behind her,” Road Dogg said. “That’s just where I wanted to go. I’m a huge fan of hers. I think she’s unique, she’s an individual, she’s great at wrestling, she’s got an indie fanbase that buzzes about her. I just thought there was no downside with Ruby Riott.”

In November 2017, Ruby Soho joined forces with Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan to form The Riott Squad on the WWE main roster. Since September 2021, Soho has worked for AEW, so we are yet to see if Soho turns things around in AEW and actually lays claim to a Women’s championship.
