Mark Briscoe No Longer Wants To Work Traditional Tag Team Matches

AEW & ROH President Tony Khan recently held a media call with the wrestling press to promote the ROH Supercard of Honor pay-per-view. During the call, Khan spoke about Mark Briscoe and his future in the wrestling industry.

Mark Briscoe formed a successful tag team with his brother Jay during their time in ROH. Unfortunately, Jay Briscoe passed away at the beginning of this year, leaving Mark to continue his wrestling career on his own.

When asked if Mark would ever wrestle in a tag team again, Tony Khan confirmed that he would not out of respect for his brother. Mark would instead compete in singles and trios matches. Khan stated that Mark was comfortable with the idea of the Reach For The Sky ladder match and had been having great singles matches. He has also been teaming up with the Lucha Brothers, Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo, in trios matches, creating exciting combinations.

Mark was very clear that he didn’t want to go back and do a tag match or be in tag matches. He would do singles, trios, or multi-mans, but not do tag matches. That was something that made a lot of sense, and obviously, I want to do what makes Mark most comfortable. He was very comfortable with the idea of the Reach For The Sky ladder match. He’s been having great singles matches and, as a trio with the Lucha Brothers (Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero Miedo), has had exciting matches. There are a lot of opportunities for other great singles and trios matches and combinations with Mark.

Mark Briscoe will be challenging Samoa Joe for the ROH Television Championship at Supercard of Honor, an event that promises to be stacked with two NJPW legends and several title matches on the line.
