AJ Styles Advancing To Finals For World Championship Was Set In Stone From The Beginning
WWE’s confidence levels with who they wanted penciled into the finals never changed.
Per a report from Fightful Select, the WWE’s decision to have AJ Styles defeat Rey Mysterio and Edge on the 5/12 edition of SmackDown never changed even after the promo Edge cut earlier in the week where he expressed his desire to win the world title he never lost when he had to first retire a decade ago.
Styles would go on to defeat Bobby Lashley to advance to the finals where he will be facing off against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia to see who will become the inaugural WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Rollins also had to go through a triple-threat where he defeated Shinsuke Nakamura and Damian Priest before he defeated Finn Balor later on in the night to secure his spot in the finals at Night Of Champions.
Since returning from injury, Styles has been on a roll and if he were to pin or submit Rollins to become the new WWE World Heavyweight champion, he would immediately become part of the Raw brand due to the rules of the WWE Draft.
