Adam Cole Set To Be The Next World Title Challenger After AEW Double Or Nothing
It looks like Adam Cole will be challenging for the AEW World Title sooner rather than later.
While Cole has been involved with the world title before in AEW, he is now a babyface, with a new drive for the title with fans behind him. Currently, he is feuding with Chris Jericho but it appears he is going to be next in line for a world title program after Double Or Nothing.
In a segment backstage during this week’s Dynamite, MJF had a promo where he slapped a mic out of Renee Paquette’s hand. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that MJF actually went against the original plan when he slapped that microphone out of Renee Paquette’s hand, and AEW originally had plans to tease Adam Cole’s next feud.
The segment where MJF slapped the mic out of Renee Paquette’s hands was not the original plan. There was a promo segment involving everyone in the match and Britt Baker was involved. It ended with Baker saying that even if he wins, he’s not going to hold the title long Bay Bay. The idea is that Cole gets the next big title chase against whoever wins the match. But there was something about it that was deemed not good and instead of doing it again, they changed to what they did. Maybe the decision was not to let people know Cole was getting the next shot meaning people would figure MJF was winning, although everyone figures MJF is winning as there was 50-to-1 odds favoring him
WON
We will have to wait and see how soon Cole will be stepping in the ring for the world title once again.
