John Cena Initially Did Not Want WWE To Promote His Make A Wish Duties

John Cena continues to be a pillar of the industry.

John Cena is known for a lot of things over the years, but one of the things that fans love most about him is his devoting to the Make A Wish charity. Cena has granted an incredible amount of wishes over the year and even had kids from the charity involved in his WrestleMania 39 match.

While speaking with Rick Rubin on the Tetragrammaton podcast, Paul Heyman revealed that Cena had to be convinced by Vince McMahon to let the company promote his wish granting.

“I don’t have the words to convey the admiration I have for John Cena as a human being. There had to come a point in time where Vince had to sit down with John and say, ‘You need to let me go public with these Make-A Wish visits. You have to. You know you’re hurting Make-A-Wish by not allowing me to do that because if people understood how much of your time you give to Make-a-Wish and to these kids, they’ll be inclined to contribute. They’ll be inclined to get involved. You will help them if you allow this’, because Cena never wanted to exploit it. He never wanted publicity for it. He never wanted recognition for it. He wanted to just do it. That’s a hero.”

Cena will continue to grant wishes for fans, and has broken records for his charity work. While his WWE career is coming to a close, it is incredibly unlikely that John will stop granting wishes. He truly is one of the best humans in the industry’s history.
