Gunther is open to facing anyone at SummerSlam this year, as he looks to become the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time in WWE.
Gunther has held the championship for over a year now and is fast approaching the day when he will break the Honky Tonk Man’s long held record.
Speaking with Steve Fall for WrestlingNewsCo, Gunther was asked to name who he wants to face at WWE SummerSlam later this year.
“To be honest, I think there’s — especially since we just got drafted to Raw, I think there’s a lot of fresh matchups that could be done. I think I’m in a position right now where there’s a target on my back, and it’s on everybody else to come after me. I don’t have to identify people that I want to go after. That’s not the position I’m in. So yeah, let’s see, I’m open to any challenge. I’m here to be in the ring with the best to face-to-face competition, to have the biggest possible challenge,”

At present, it appears that Gunther is building to a matchup with Matt Riddle in the near future. Riddle will face off with Ludwig Kaiser on tonight’s edition of Monday Night RAW.
