Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor Money In The Bank 2023 Will Be A Classic. Here’s Why.
Summerslam 2016. The first show since the second-ever brand split and the first few shows since the movie “The Nice Guys” came out which you should watch because to quote Drew Seeley, It’s a new classic.
What’s also a new classic was Finn Balor’s initial push to the main roster that led to his encounter with Seth Rollins at Summerslam 2016 in which Balor pinned Roman Reigns for that opportunity.
That was a big deal considering that WWE wanted Roman Reigns to be THE guy and the fact that he got crowd reactions that were so negative, it would make Dominik Mysterio’s crowd reactions. sound like Roman would get in Hershey, PA or something.
The match itself was really, REALLY GOOD. Unfortunately, the encounter was overshadowed by a frustrated New York crowd (in other words, a typical day in New York).
The reason? Well, they were mad that both performers were fighting for what looked like the WWE championship dripped in blood.
Apparently, the belter maker pulled that Gangrel song from the WWF Aggression and said, “I won’t stop till I see blood”.
Fortunately for SR The Drip Mane, his career has been on the come up since 2016 while Finn hasn’t been the same since the injury he sustained 7 years ago (other than his second NXT run because that was a career resurgence).
Balor being the leader of Judgement Day is the closest thing to the sentence “He’s actually doing something decent for once in the main roster”.
Now, you’re probably thinking, “what’s the point of the article?”. Like I said earlier, their first match was filled with mostly boos from the Brooklyn crowd and when I think of that match, I think of how negatively the crowd responded following the universal title reveal which is unfortunate since the match itself was solid.
With the right setting in the O2 arena and with two performers fighting for a title that looks so much better than the red Gucci belt spelt with a W, the bout will mostly be a fantastic one that’ll make me forget what happened in 2016 because let’s face it, who wants to remember the same year that Hilary Clinton did the dab?
Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor. Let’s do it again.
