Top IMPACT Wrestling Knockout Gisele Shaw Reflects On One Year Since Coming Out As Transgender
During an appearance Friday, June 24, 2022, on the Canadian morning show “Breakfast Television,” Shaw publicly came out as transgender — right before her appearances at Toronto Pride.
That same day, IMPACT Wrestling used their social media Twitter account to promote their support for Shaw.
On June 25th 2023, Gisele Shaw took to her social media Twitter to send out a message about it.
“Yesterday marked one year of me disclosing my story to the world. I took this photo right before I went on live tv so I can remind myself it was new day, a fresh start where I am going to live my life authentically, proud, to the fullest, and finally taking my power back.” 1/2
“The only time you should look back, is to see how far you’ve come.
Special thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way and lifted me up when I need it the most.
Happy Anniversary to me!”💝🫰🏼 2/2

Gisele Shaw has seen all kinds of great support over the past year, but there have also been some rough moments as well.
As Bodyslam.Net exclusively reported, Gisele Shaw was verbally assaulted with transphobic remarks by Rick Steiner at WresleCon on March 31st. Immediately following the incident, Gisele took a break from social media, only to return on May 15th with a Twitter post about “needing a mental health break.”
Bodyslam.Net also ran 2 exclusives about a list of other active talent and legends who were present when this onslaught on Gisele took place.
Rick Steiner was confronted about the incident by a fan at the airport a few days later; Rick had “no comment” to make.

Gisele most recently lost to TRINITY at the LIVE Under Siege event, and then again when she tag teamed with Savannah Evans against the team of Deonna Purrazzo & Trinity at Against All Odds.
On the 6/1 episode, Gisele, Savannah Evans, & Jai Vidal took out former 2x IMPACT Knockouts World Champion, Jordynne Grace indefinitely a few weeks back when she tried to save Deonna Purrazzo & Trinity from a beatdown by Shaw, Evans, and Vidal. Trinity had just beaten Savannah in a match and then immediately called out the Knockouts Champion, Deonna Purrazzo. All three swarmed the ring and attacked Trinity and Purrazzo, prompting Grace to run out and attempt a save. Grace ended up being taken out herself when Gisele Shaw cracked her in the face with a purse that had some kind of heavy object in it.
Gisele Shaw is set to get a shot at the IMPACT Knockouts World Title on the company Australia tour this upcoming weekend when she battles Deonna Purrazzo. If Shaw wins, she’ll be added to the Slammiversary Knockouts Title match and have to defend it against both Trinity & Deonna Purrazzo.
