IMPACT Wrestling Announces Four Time Stanley Cup Champion Darren McCarty As Special Enforcer For Slammiversary Tag Team Match
Moments ago, IMPACT Wrestling took to their social media Twitter account to announce that former Detroit Red Wings Stanley Cup champion Darren McCarty will be the Special Enforcer for the tag team match between Scott D’Amore & PCO versus Bully Ray & Steve Maclin at Slammiversary on July 15th.
McCarty was in the crowd at the IMPACT LIVE Sacrifice event back on March 24th, and goaded by Bully Ray while he was in the crowd.
Bully threw a beer can at him, which led to McCarty jumping the guard rail and ultimately being out through a table by Bully, with the help of The Good Hands (John Skyler & Jason Hotch).
This set up a 6 man tag match the next night at the Sacrifice Fallout tv tapings, where McCarty teamed with ECW Legend Tommy Dreamer & NJPW young lion Yuya Uemura to take on Bully Ray & the Good Hands. The match aired on the April 6th episode of IMPACTonAXSTV.
The match ended when McCarty cleared the Good Hands out of the ring and then turned his attention to Bully Ray. Bully stepped into the ring and then was he was about to square off with Darren, Bully jumped out of the ring and McCarty was attacked by John Skyler from behind. McCarty turned around and nailed Skyler with a gut punch and then followed it up by a Stunner. McCarty pinned Skyler for the victory.
Whether or not Darren McCarty can be an impartial enforcer remains to be seen, so we’ll have to tune in to find out.
