The Coven Being Promoted Ahead Of Slammiversary IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team Title Defense
The Coven first united on the 3/9 episode of IMPACTonAXSTV, when Taylor Wilde was face to face with Killer Kelly, and then was attacked from behind by KiLynn King. Later in that same show, King & Wilde called themselves “The Coven”, and challenged the Death Dolls to a match for the IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team Titles for the following week.
It would be only a week later on the 3/16 episode that The Coven defeated the Death Dolls and became the NEW IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team Champions. The pair have held the titles ever since.
The Coven Holds Steadfast Ahead of IMPACT Wrestling’s Slammiversary PPV.
After IMPACT Wrestling’s revival of the former TNA Knockouts Tag Team Titles under the keen eye and management of Gail Kim, there’s been a continued and growing excitement over the depth that this action provides the Knockouts Division of today’s IMPACT Wrestling! Within IMPACT there’s currently a plethora of unique characters. Not to mention insanely skilled wrestlers possessing innate talent which reminds my of 2008-2009’S incredible Knockouts Division! A division that ushered in a change that would echo throughout the industry in good time. And this brings me to the rebirth of the Knockouts ahead of IMPACT Wrestling’s iconic summer PPV, Slammiversary!
Two such talents are none other than your current reigning and defending IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Tag Team Champions, The Coven: KiLynn King and Taylor Wilde! As any experienced competitor knows, being a champion comes with all kinds of bragging rights. And as it often does, it also comes with a lot of targets on your back. Such is the plight of being excellent. Or wicked… Your choice! The Coven’s Grand High Priestess, Taylor Wilde is no stranger to competition at IMPACT Wrestling.
As one half of the inaugural Knockouts Tag Team Champions herself as a pioneer among the original Knockouts, she is uniquely qualified to lead the charge into Slammiversary with KiLynn King as her sister in arms. Both have been on top of the IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Tag Team Division putting everyone on notice. As the cards read so it will be…
I can say wholeheartedly that this new chapter for both women has been rewarding to watch as both a former Knockout and as a Published Author. The story they are telling is having these women enter their most authentic and confident era as The Coven! And you can feel the impact this has had on the duo as well as the division as a whole. No pun intended. Wilde and King are kindred souls as a team. They are efficient with their combined experiences and tactics. They are balanced with in-ring versatility. They possess a wickedness that speaks of strength, anger, prowess, wisdom, guts, and gumption. And they are wildly volatile as tag team which makes them brilliantly unpredictable and therefore never stale to the fans in the IMPACT Zone.
I’ve been watching KiLynn King evolve over the last few years. I was waiting and waiting for a company to bet on KiLynn King. It was obvious that she was a talent that was ready for the chance to reach for her fullest potential as a star in this business and was simply lacking the right home and opportunity with which to do so. Fast forward we get to see her make a home for herself at IMPACT Wrestling alongside Taylor Wilde has been absolutely awesome! She’s making good on the opportunity. and rightly so!
IMPACT has embraced and elevated talents like KiLynn King and its become a beacon of change reminiscent of the aforementioned 2008-2009 IMPACT Wrestling era! Heading into this year’s Slammiversary, The Coven will have perhaps the biggest challenge yet to their coveted Knockouts Tag Team Titles. The challenge coming by way of the newly formed duo of Killer Kelly and Masha Slamovich. What Killer Kelly and Masha Slamovich lack in combined experience in comparison to Taylor Wilde and KiLynn King, they more than make up for it in brutality and unpredictability. Two aspects that are in the wheel house of The Coven…
Taylor Wilde has always been a firecracker of tenacity and grit. Combined her continued legacy and the brute strength, hunger, and formidability of KiLynn King, this makes for one heck of a mountain for Killer Kelly and Masha Slamovich to climb in order to win the Knockouts Tag Team Titles.
This Saturday at one of IMPACT’s biggest flagship PPVs of the year The Coven will put their titles on the line. And now it’s Killer Kelly’s and Masha Slamovich’s time to challenge them. “Bound by circumstance, united with purpose…” The words of Masha Slamovich echo the sentiments of Killer Kelly as Saturday approaches. The Witches Trial has begun once more. Will Slamovich and Kelly’s purpose ring true? Or will The Coven continue to reign supreme? The challengers want gold and the witches are out for revenge. They weren’t burned in the fires of Salem. They were forged. Time will tell what the cards foresee at Slammiversary. Until then, so mote it be…
H/T Taeler Hendrix for Fightful.
On the 6/22 episode of IMPACTonAXSTV, one half of the current IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team Champions, Taylor Wilde, lost to Killer Kelly. After the match, Wilde’s partner KiLynn King came into the ring and both women began beating down Kelly. Masha Slamovich emerged from the back with a steel chain and evened the odds. Both Masha & Kelly stood tall in the ring.
The following week on the 6/29 episode, one half of the IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team Champions, KiLynn King, took on Masha Slamovich. King was escorted to the ring by her partner Taylor Wilde. King was defeated by Masha.
The referee was checking on King while Taylor Wilde was beating up Masha on the outside. Wilde rolled Masha back in and then attempted to cause a distraction on the outside. Killer Kelly came out with a steel chain and got Wilde from behind with it. She applied the Killer Clutch, while Masha hit King with the Snowplow and picked up the victory.
After each of them having defeated one of the Knockouts Tag Team champions, Killer Kelly & Masha Slamovich former an alliance and challenged for the titles.
