On July 20th at Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Sunny Voyage 2023 event at Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, HAYATA will be defending his GHC Jr Heavyweight Championship against the face of the AJPW Jr Heavyweight Division Atsuki Aoyagi. This huge inter-promotional match will be the main event of the show.
On July 15th at NOAH’s One Night Dream event, HAYATA was involved in a six man tag team match in which Atsuki Aoyagi was a special commentator for. After the match, HAYATA jumped the barrier and confronted Aoyagi. Cooler heads prevailed as they did not have a physical confrontation.
Atsuki Aoyagi made a few comments backstage after show in which he indicated he wants to face all the NOAH Juniors and will defend the GHC Jr Heavyweight Title in AJPW should he win it:
Wow, Noah Junior is amazing, and makes me want the belt more and more. I want to take the belt, defeat all the guys I saw just now, and whip up the Noah Juniors. But before that, when Atsuki wins the GHC Junior, I will have a defensive match in All Japan
There have been numerous wrestlers from rival promotions winning major titles in AJPW such as NJPW’s Yuji Nagata, NOAH’s Kenoh & Manabu Soya and GLEAT’s El Lindeman. On July 20th, Atsuki Aoyagi has the opportunity to win a title from a rival promotion and bring it back to AJPW.
