Joel Redman (Oliver Grey) Contacted William Regal Before Covid But Was Never Contacted By NXT UK

Joel Redman, as NXT’s Oliver Grey, discusses NXT UK and the potential NXT Europe brand.

Oliver Grey and Adrian Neville (PAC) were awarded the inaugural NXT Tag Team Champions. Unfortunately, an ACL injury stalled his momentum, and he was eventually dismissed from WWE. Neville went on to play an important role in the first season of NXT on the WWE Network.

Redman was asked if he was called when WWE developed an NXT brand particularly for the UK in a new interview with Bryan Asbury of Developmentally Speaking. Despite the fact that Redman claims he was never contacted about a position in NXT UK, he claims he contacted William Regal before COVID.

While Redman views the prospective NXT Europe brand as another possible open door for him, he is currently a trainer and would be content if one of his students received the call.

“Many people have asked me that. They say, ‘Did they contact you about anything to do with NXT UK?’ I never heard anything. I was told that William Regal wanted to speak to me at one point. I dropped him an email just before COVID. He sort of [said], ‘Get back to me after COVID,’ which I did. Yeah, it is what it is. You can change those things, and there might be NXT Europe coming up. That’s the rumors that I’ve heard. Maybe if that comes up, it could be something there, too. For me and my students will get tryouts. Seeing them make a good impression in NXT Europe would be just as satisfying as if I got a call,”

NXT Europe is currently on hiatus due to Endeavor acquiring a majority share in WWE.
