Santos Escobar Says LWO Using Viva La Raza In Their Theme Was Rey Mysterio’s Idea
Santos Escobar explains who came up with the idea for Viva La Raza being part of the LWO theme song.
Santos Escobar discusses Rey Mysterio’s influence on the LWO since joining the faction. The two men are set to face off in the finals of the US Title Number 1 Contenders tournament tonight on SmackDown.
Speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Escobar discussed the opening lines of LWO’s theme, which takes the opening from Eddie Guerrero’s theme music.
“That was Rey’s idea. Rey’s a genius. Every single good thing that you could say about this industry, he is that. Sure enough with that, [Rey] said, “We need something that elevates the LWO and pays respect and homage to who we need to do it. I believe that’s – as opposed to having us imitate him every step of the way, which I feel would not be the right move, we have that [instead]. It’s sort of like him saying, “It’s my people! I’ll leave you to decide if they’re good enough.” That’s it! Viva la Raza,”

We will have to wait and see what happens when the LWO members clash on tonight’s edition of SmackDown and will earn a future shot as the United States championship.
