John Cena’s Royal Rumble plans are different than reported elsewhere.
Cena made his WWE return prior to WWE Payback and has been a consistent part of SmackDown television since said return. However, he has not had any high profile matchups yet, special guest refereeing back at Payback.
Earlier today, a rumor began to circulate that Cena would be rematching Austin Theory at the Royal Rumble.
Ringside News have now reported that there has been no mention of this matchup internally in WWE.
A rumor is going around that John Cena is slated to wrestle Austin Theory at the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania. Ringside News reached out to confirm this story making the rounds, and we were told by a tenured member of the creative team that this is not the plan.

Based on Friday Night’s SmackDown, it seems Cena will be teaming up with AJ Styles to take on The Bloodline, in the next few weeks, but anything could happen between now and the Royal Rumble in January.
