The title was created in 2004 and has been inactive since 2010.

Despite being called a “hardcore” title, it does not mean matches will be conducted with barbed wire, weapons etc, it means a more endurance factor. The rules of past included if the challenger was smaller than the champion, and lasted for 15 minutes, they would win the title. It could also change hands on a countout. Whether those rules will remain with the title’s return have not been confirmed.

A new GHC Hardcore Openweight Champion will be crowned on Oct 23rd on Monday Magic Ep 2 as Ninja Mack faces a mystery opponent to determine the new champion.
