It has been reported that the USPTO, or the United States Patent and Trademark Office is rejecting WWE’s claims for trademarks stating: “The name(s), portrait(s), and/or signature(s) shown in the mark does not identify a particular living individual”
WWE had filed trademarks for Ember Moon, Buddy Murphy, Wesley Blake, Elias Samson, Eric Young, Oney Lorcan, Roderick Strong, Kassius Ohno and Kona Reeves.
This could be the beginning of a much bigger story, which that it now appears that WWE has not been granted trademarks for some of their current Superstars. It will be interesting to see what this means going forward regarding talents and their rights to their ring names prior to signing, and once signed to WWE. More on this as it develops.
