On October 28th, Shingo Takagi won the NJPW NEVER Openweight Title for the third time in his career when he defeated Tama Tonga at New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s STRONG Fight Spirit Unleashed.

After Takagi’s victory, he was challenged by Trent Beretta for the title in a match that will take place on November 10th at NJPW Lonestar Shootout.

Now another superstar who is currently a free agent has come forward and expressed interest in facing Shingo Takagi for the NEVER Openweight Title.

Former Pro Wrestling NOAH superstar Katsuhiko Nakajima took to social media and teased a possible match between Takagi and himself. Nakajima congratulated Shingo Takagi and asked him what’s next and indicated that he is all free.

Shingo Takagi and Katsuhiko Nakajima have had 3 singles matches against one another with the first one going back to 2005. The most recent singles match between them was in January 2023 as Takagi defeated Nakajima in a Kongo vs LIJ best of five series at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17. Nakajima won the previous two singles matches between him and Takagi.

Katsuhiko Nakajima left Pro Wrestling NOAH on October 1st after 15 years with the promotion. His last match for NOAH was October 28th.
