Triple H Reveals Reason Why WWE Has Not Returned To Wembley Stadium Since SummerSlam 92

WWE Executive Vice President Triple H recently spoke to The Express. During the interview he was asked about the possibility of WWE’s NXT UK brand having their own pay-per-view.

Triple H responded to the question by pointing out the logistics and difficult present when holding a PPV overseas, but most what might be the most interesting thing he said is that he revealed why WWE has not held a PPV event at Wembley Stadium in the UK since SummerSlam 1992. Triple H stated that he always hears about Wembley and how it was such a massive success, when in fact the event was not a massive success. He then went on to reveal that the lack of success from the event is the reason why WWE has not come back to the venue since.

Triple H does go on to mention that they’re still trying to figure it out, after the apparent failure of SummerSlam 92. Eventually Triple H answered the initial question regarding an NXT UK brand PPV by saying that when the time is right, then they would absolutely have a NXT UK PPV.

Regarding a potential WWE or NXT UK brand PPV, Triple H said:

“As far as the ability to have larger Pay-Per-Views and larger events, yeah. I think you see that happening now. I just came back from Australia, 70,000 people in the stadium. I think those things become clearer and clearer as we’re experimenting with other things. The time zones are the big kicker. We have to go where the most people can watch. I always hear about Wembley, I always hear it was such a massive success. It was not. I will just say that from a business standpoint, it was not. That’s why we didn’t come back and that’s why we’re still trying to figure it out. So when the time is right, absolutely.”
