Shawn Spears Confirms Departure From All Elite Wrestling, Will Become A Free Agent On January 1st
Shawn Spears is set to become a free agent to start 2024.
Fightful Select reported the news on Thursday afternoon that Spears was set to depart from AEW on January 1st.
The departure is amicable between All Elite Wrestling and Spears. Spears has been an integral figure as he was part of the early days from feuding with Cody Rhodes to joining alongside The Pinnacle.
Shortly after the Select report was made, Spears would go on X to confirm the news himself of his departure.
What a wonderful time it has been.
Thank you @AEW for allowing me to be there from the ground level. It’s been a fantastic 5 years of growth and personal development.
This is a personal choice and one that is best for me and my family at this time.
Thank you to all, staff and talent alike for the memories

Spears’ last match he wrestled was on AEW All Out Zero Hour. Since then, he hasn’t wrestled on a Dynamite since May 2022.
Spears and his wife Cassie Lee (FKA Peyton Royce) recently announced that they were expecting their second child together.
