How The WWE World Cup Tournament At Crown Jewel In Saudi Arabia Might Be Booked
WWE is going ahead as planned with their upcoming Crown Jewel PPV event from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Featured as part of Crown Jewel will be the WWE World Cup tournament to crown the “best in the world.” With ten matches already on the card, plus the 7 matches for the World Cup, it has left some to speculate how WWE might book the tournament. The participants of the
WWE World Cup Tournament are as follows:
-
- John Cena
- Kurt Angle
- Rey Mysterio
- Randy Orton
- Jeff Hardy
- The Miz
- Seth Rollins
- Dolph Ziggler
On the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer speculated how WWE could potential book the World Cup Tournament. He mentioned that they could eliminate some of the veterans quickly and allow the younger talent to work more matches in the tournament.
Regarding the World Cup Tournament booking, Meltzer said:
“They may get rid of those guys quick you know. John, they will probably get rid of with a fluke. Kurt, who knows?”
It will be interesting to see how the company decides to book Crown Jewel, especially the World Cup Tournament. If you remember John Cena didn’t take any punishment during his match at Super Show-Down, which was said to be due to his filming of Project X with Jackie Chan in China, and how Cena couldn’t risk getting injured which would interfere with production of the film.
Kurt Angle is another interesting participant, as he is obviously in the final stages of his career, but is now said to be returning to in-ring competition on a regular basis. Kurt might be left to go longer in the tournament but it would make sense to have Baron Corbin cost Angle the match.
Rey Mysterio many are saying is a wildcard entry in the tournament, as he is just returning to the company after being away for many years, and he has already been placed into a US Title Match at Starrcade, so WWE may want to use the World Cup as means to gain him some momentum.
