ROH on Honor Club Results – 5/30/2024

Welcome back to ROH on Honor Club, as we’re at Episode 66, and we’ve got two Proving Ground matches in place tonight!

Welcome back to ROH on Honor Club, as we’re at Episode 66, and we’ve got two Proving Ground matches in place tonight! Once again, we have no cold open, as Ian welcomes us to the broadcast and runs down the card for tonight.

MATCH 1 – Athena vs. Viva Van
This one ended quickly and was the topic of some discussion when it came out that Athena appeared injured, and it looked as though they went straight to the finish. Van low bridged Athena, who took a tumble to the outside. We did not see the landing, but she got back in the ring favoring her left leg, dropped Van with a forearm–which we’ve seen her win with in the past–for the three count.

Athena pins Viva Van after a knockout forearm strike in 3:50.

MATCH 2 – Undisputed Kingdom vs. Nick Comoroto & Jacoby Watts
Now that Comoroto has officially thrown in with Watts, they instantly get put in a match with the tag champs. That’s…a choice. Comoroto got some good offense in here and there, but ultimately got put down in pretty short order. I don’t believe Watts even tagged in.

The Kingdom def. Nick Comoroto & Jacoby Watts (Taven pins Comoroto) after Just The Tip in 3:22.

MATCH 3 – Serpentico vs. Brady Roberts
Apparently, Brady is also known as Brady Malibu, which would also explain his Indian Deathlock surfboard on Serpentico. Given that alternate name, and his ring gear, I need him teaming with The Outrunners post-haste. Serpentico hits a series of chops, then a Swanton and a La Majistral style roll-up for the win.

Serpentico pins Brady Roberts with La Majistral in 4:29.

Lexy Nair is backstage with Marina Shafir. Most people run, lie about, or hide from their problems. What happens when you don’t take care of a problem? It gets worse.

MATCH 4 – Red Velvet vs. Kel
Not much here. Just a squash as we build toward Red Velvet challenging Billie Starkz. Kel didn’t even really get in much offense, as this was all Red Velvet.

Red Velvet pins Kel following a spinning kick in 1:47.

Post-match, Athena’s music hits, but it’s Billie Starkz, jumping Velvet from behind. The attack is punctuated with Starkz face planting Velvet on the TV Title belt.

MATCH 5 – Zak Knight vs. Sebastian Wolfe
Knight is now dressing in a newsboy cap, wool jacket, suit coat, vest, etc. He’s taking Naito levels of time to take it off too, but without Naito’s magnetism. Wolfe has an arm sleeve that reads “Let’s Eat,” and Knight wastes no time feeding him several forearms. He has his way with him for about a minute and a half and ends it.

Zak Knight pins Sebastian Wolfe with a running punch in 1:47.

MATCH 6 – Lee Johnson vs. Aaron Solo vs. Action Andretti

Lee Johnson pins Aaron Solo with the Big Shot Drop in 6:39.

MATCH 7 – Premier Athletes vs. Bollywood Boyz
205 LIVE OF HONOR. In case it wasn’t clear, the Bollywood Boyz come out in Vancouver Canucks sweaters. The Premier Athletes attack before the bell. Decent tag match with the Vancouver crowd very much on board with the Bollywood Boyz, but the Premier Athletes keep interrupting their handshake/dance gimmick. In keeping with the new group you want to establish, the Premier Athletes pick up the win after a passably energetic match.

Premier Athletes def. Bollywood Boyz (Nese pins Sunil Singh) with the pumphandle driver in 6:51.

Post-match, the Premier Athletes keep up the attack, but The Infantry come out for the save.

Breaking News! Dalton Castle will challenge Kyle Fletcher for the ROH World TV Title next week!

MATCH 8 – The Workhorsemen vs. Top Flight
One assumes (hopes) that this would clarify the top of the tag division a bit, as the Workhorsemen have been a big deal since Anthony Henry’s return from injury, and Top Flight are close to being perpetual contenders for either the AEW or ROH Tag Titles. Each team played their role well here, with some insane high flying from Dante, stiff strikes from JD Drake, fun technical combinations from Henry. Eventually, Dante picks up the win for Top Flight, maybe they’re looking to challenge Undisputed Kingdom at Death Before Dishonor? We shall see. We’re about 7 weeks out.

Top Flight def. The Workhorsemen (Dante Martin pins Anthony Henry) with a half-nelson swinging slam in 7:41.

Top Flight celebrates with Action Andretti as we close out the show. HAPPY WRESTLING, EVERYBODY!
