ROH on Honor Club Results – 7/4/2024
The Infantry host a special Fourth of July episode of Ring of Honor on Honor Club!
We open up this week with The Infantry, with American flags in front of fireworks on a green screen. They’ll be hosting this Fourth of July episode, so stay tuned!
MATCH 1 – Dark Order vs. Bullet Club Gold (The Gunns & Juice Robinson)
We have a disconnect right away as Ian announces this as a Proving Ground match, but Bobby Cruise does not announce it as such. Cruise also announces a twenty-minute time limit, with Proving Ground matches only being 10 minutes. Caprice says something to the effect of “You know it’s serious when the Bang Bang Gang is in the House of Honor. Well, seeing as this is the first time any of the three of them have wrestled on Honor Club weekly TV (unless you count Juice performing on the Jay Briscoe Tribute Show). Reynolds lays out Robinson with a gorgeous straitjacket neckbreaker, and Evil Uno gets a hot tag and goes bonkers. But as things go wild, Alex Reynolds falls victim to the 3:10 to Yuma for the pin.
Bang Bang Gang def. Dark Order (Austin Gunn pins Alex Reynolds) after 3:10 to Yuma in 7:24.
We go back to the Infantry, who are now in front of a green screen at the Liberty Bell. It’s all a bit silly, but it’s fun. They run down a few big matches on tonight’s card, and Carlie Bravo threatens to hit the Kingdom with gauntlets he found. I have been to Philadelphia, but I’m not really sure where he would have found those.
We have a video package of Atlantis Jr. winning the ROH World TV Title from Kyle Fletcher at Arena Mexico for CMLL.
We also throw it back to Athena, Billie Starkz and Lexy Nair, who are celebrating feeling safe. And it seems one of their security guards tonight is Tony Deppen! Red Velvet and Queen Aminata interrupt, and we get the official announcement that Starkz/Velvet and Athena/Aminata are official for Death Before Dishonor. Athena still claims she isn’t cleared, but for now at least, the match is official. The Forever ROH Champion is not happy about it.
After an ad for Death Before Dishonor, we’re now back with The Infantry talking about Washington D.C., before kicking it back to the ring.
MATCH 2 – Metalik/Komander vs. The Undisputed Kingdom
This is, as announced last week, a Proving Ground match after the Kingdom asked for more competition. Ian points out that Taven has sometimes struggled with smaller, quicker opponents, and references his recent loss to longtime rival Volador Jr. Ian also discusses the greater sense of urgency out of the Kingdom following their time limit draw with The Infantry a couple months ago. Komander hits the ropewalk shooting star press on Taven but Bennett breaks it up for a nice nearfall. Metalik goes for a step up headscissors, Bennett catches him in the powerbomb position and the champs hit Rockstar Supernova, and that’s it.
The Kingdom def. Komander and Metalik (Taven pins Metalik) with Rockstar Supernova in 8:03.
The MxM Collection (Mason Madden and Mansoor) are coming to ROH! Yeah, social media rightly lost their mind about this. Should be a great addition to the tag division.
The Infantry are now at Mount Rushmore, and they replace the President’s heads with themselves. Silly nonsense and I’m on board. Also subscribe to Honor Club to watch ROH weekly and to watch Death Before Dishonor, and stay tuned for the main event.
MATCH 3 – Lee Moriarty vs. Wheeler Yuta
This is Yuta’s first match on Honor Club weekly TV since December 14, 2023. He also previously defeated Moriarty in a Pure Rules match on Episode 39 (November 23, 2023). This being a Proving Ground Pure Rules match, it’s only a 10 minute time limit instead of the usual 15. These two also had a critically acclaimed match in May of 2021 in Beyond for the IWTV Independent Wrestling Title that went nearly an hour. In fact, Yuta is 3-0 in singles matches against Moriarty to date. Moriarty burns the first rope break to escape hammer and anvil elbows just under 5 minutes into the match. Ian also points out that this is Wheeler’s first singles match since facing Eddie Kingston on January 10. Wheeler uses his first rope break just over 7 minutes in to escape the Border City Stretch. A long pinfall reversal sequence leads to a nice nearfall for Yuta, and then both men exchange forearms until the bell rings.
Wheeler Yuta and Lee Moriarty fight to a 10 minute time limit draw.
The two men face off after the match and jaw, until the rest of Shane Taylor Promotions emerges, and Yuta smartly hits the road. Lee Moriarty has earned a future shot at the Pure Title, which one presumes will be coming at Death Before Dishonor.
Regardless, Moriarty, Shane Taylor, and Anthony Ogogo celebrate as Ian wishes us HAPPY WRESTLING, EVERYBODY!
