CJ Perry Announces Her AEW Departure

CJ Perry is no longer Elite.

CJ Perry, known by her former ring name Lana in WWE, has officially announced that she parted ways with All Elite Wrestling, as confirmed by an interview with USA Today.

Earlier this spring, Fightful Select had already speculated that Perry’s return to the company was unlikely, and she was not being considered in creative plans.

AEW further confirmed to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select that Perry was included in the April wave of releases. Initially entering the company on a per-appearance basis, she eventually signed a contract during her tenure.

Unfortunately, Perry’s time in AEW was plagued by various injuries, both to herself and her on-screen clients. These setbacks likely hindered her ability to fully showcase her skills and contribute to the company’s storylines.

CJ Perry has had a diverse career in the world of professional wrestling. She initially gained attention as a manager and valet in WWE, accompanying her real-life husband (now Ex-husband) Rusev to the ring as Lana. Lana’s captivating presence and charisma quickly made her stand out as a great manager, and she became a prominent figure in WWE storylines.

Transitioning from her managerial role, Lana eventually stepped into the ring as an in-ring competitor. While she faced challenges and criticism early on, Lana showed determination and resilience, constantly striving to improve her wrestling skills. Her efforts paid off as she achieved notable accomplishments, including participating in the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match and competing in various high-profile matches.

Outside of wrestling, Lana has also explored other ventures, such as modeling and acting. She has appeared in movies and television shows, expanding her presence beyond the squared circle.

The departure of CJ Perry marks the end of her short stint in AEW, leaving fans and industry insiders to reflect on her contributions and potential what-ifs. As the wrestling world continues to evolve, it remains to be seen what new opportunities lie ahead for Perry and how she will continue to make her mark in the industry.
