DDT announces departure of Makoto Oishi

Makoto Oishi will be returning to the puroresu freelance scene.

DDT Pro Wrestling announced via a press conference held in Tokyo on July 24th that long-time member of the DDT roster, Makoto Oishi, would be departing from the company once his contract expires on October 3rd.

Oishi, a five-time KO-D six man tag team champion in the promotion, announced that this decision comes in the wake of the passing of the father of his wife and their mutual decision to settle down in Miyagi, Japan. Oishi made clear that the bulk of this decision comes down to wanting to be at home with his family which includes a three year-old and five year-old child respectively.

The main reason is that I want to live with my family as they will soon be starting elementary school. When I sometimes go back, my children cry and tell me not to go back, but that’s also painful, as they want to live with me. I’ve been thinking about living in Miyagi ever since I got married and had children, and I thought Miyagi would be a good place to raise them.

Oishi has been a consistent player in DDT Pro-Wrestling since 2011, becoming a multi-time six man tag team and two man tag team champion with the likes of Jun Akiyama, Shunma Katsumata, MAO, and Yuji Hino, respectively. He adds that he wishes to compete in tags and singles matches with the aforementioned Katsumata and MAO as well as Tetsuya Endo for his remaining time in the company. Furthermore, Oishi plans to work freelance in the Sendai area of Japan and made sure to clarify that he is not retiring from the sport of pro-wrestling.
