Joe Hendry On His Arrangement With Both WWE and TNA: “This Is Unprecedented. It’s Never Been Done Before In The Business”
Recently, TNA Star Joe Hendry has also been appearing regularly on both TNA and NXT. Hendry performed a live in-ring concert last week on NXT, and was beaten down by Gallus as a result. Hendry is set to take on Gallus member Joe Coffey this week on the night two NXT Great American Bash episode.
During an interview with Matt Camp on The Wrestling Matt show, here’s what Hendry had to say about the collaboration between TNA and WWE.
“TNA Wresting have worked it out with WWE where I can appear on TNA Wrestling as a contracted talent, I can appear on NXT, and I can train at the Performance Center full-time and do indies and do signings. This is unprecedented. It’s never been done before in the business. So thank you to TNA and WWE for figuring it out.
“I have no ego when it comes to getting better. That’s why I’m training at the Performance Center. I’m never just gonna rest the skills that I’ve got. I’m always trying to build to something more. I’m very grateful to TNA Wrestling for giving me the opportunity to do that. I think I’m collaborating really well with management, and I think we’re putting ourselves in a position to do historic business for TNA.”
“I had a long conversation with Shawn Michaels last night (July 30). The mentorship from Shawn Michaels has been unbelievable. This is why this collaboration between TNA Wrestling and NXT is so good because everybody wins. For me personally from a training perspective, Shawn’s giving me a huge opportunity and Shawn said, ‘Hey, this door is open, if you want to train at the Performance Center, we’re going to open that door.’ I was like, ‘Let’s do it,'” Hendry added.
“Right now, I’m training at the Performance Center and I’m here in Orlando and I’m getting this amazing opportunity to learn from, let’s be honest, the greatest in-ring performer of all time. And the fact that Shawn sees something in me that he wants to help me build and grow, it just makes me want to do an even better job for TNA Wrestling and WWE, it makes me want to do great business for both companies.”

Joe Hendry is a former TNA Digital Media Champion, and just recently was part of a Six-Man Elimination match for the TNA World Title where he fell short of the title, but pinned the former champion, Moose, which meant there would be a new champion crowned.
This kind of arrangement between TNA and the top company on this wrestling space has never happened before where it was beneficial for both companies and they could also both co-exist and do their own thing, but also include each other in some stuff.
