Zack Sabre Jr. vs. SANADA, TMDK title match official for NJPW Royal Quest IV

First matches announced for Royal Quest IV.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced early on 10/13 the first two matches set for the promotion’s annual trip to the United Kingdom.

Zack Sabre Jr. won the 34th G1 Climax in August, becoming the second foreigner to win the company’s annual round robin tournament. After the victory, Sabre Jr. made his intention to challenge for the IWGP World Heavyweight championship at NJPW’s King of Pro-Wrestling event in October and make his first defense of the title at Royal Quest IV. The frontman of TMDK will face either current champion Tetsuya Naito or his challenger at NJPW’s Destruction in Kobe, Great-O-Khan.

On night four of the Road to Destruction, Sabre Jr. would team with fellow TMDK member Kosei Fujita to face SANADA and Taichi, taking a pinfall loss to the former in the process. This would lead to a verbal exchange and an official announcement of a special singles match at the upcoming event in London. NJPW has yet to clarify if the match will be a defense of the IWGP World Heavyweight championship depending on the result at King of Pro-Wrestling.

In addition, TMDK’s Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste will defend their STRONG Openweight tag team championships against Tomohiro Ishii and Hiroshi Tanahashi. Ishii and Tanahashi won a shot at the titles at NJPW STRONG’s Capital Collision in a three way contendership match vs. TMDK’s Robbie Eagles and Bad Dude Tito and the Grizzled Young Veterans, Zack Gibson and James Drake.
