DragonGate’s Konomama Ichikawa to face Hiroshi Tanahashi in Retirement Match

Staple of DragonGate to wrestle NJPW president in retirement match.

DragonGate Pro-Wrestling announced, during their The Gate of Victory night one show at Korakuen Hall, that long-time member of the roster Konomama Ichikawa, formerly known as Stalker Ichikawa, would wrestle his final match against the president of New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Hiroshi Tanahashi. The match will take place before the end of the year at Korakuen Hall on December 17.

Tanahashi, who has made appearances for Pro Wrestling NOAH, DDT Pro Wrestling, All Japan, DRADITION, and others will be making his debut in DragonGate for the match.

Ichikawa, 49, announced his retirement earlier in the year after spending twenty-five years in the ring, wrestling for DragonGate since its inception and Toryumon’s Japan promotion in his early years. Known primarily for his work as a comedy wrestler, Ichikawa is an eight time Open the Owarai Gate champion as well as a one-time Tokyo Intercontinental tag team champion with Japanese freelancer, Kikutaro.
