Artem Vakhitov is now in the UFC following his DWCS win Tuesday night, and he shared a moment with his former rival, Alex Pereira.
Alex Pereira Meets Artem Vakhitov Again
Artem Vakhitov was the last man to defeat Alex Pereira in Kick-Boxing before Alex set his sights on a MMA career. In September of 2021, Artem beat Alex via Majority Decision at Glory 78. That was Alex Pereira’s final loss before heading into the MMA world and eventually signing with the UFC. Alex went on to have major success, and become a two division UFC World Champion.
Now, Artem Vakhitov has followed in Alex’s footsteps and entered the world of MMA. On Tuesday, Artem competed in the main event of Dana White’s Contender Series, where he won via first round knockout, while Alex Pereira watched from the crowd. Following the fight, he was awarded a UFC contract by Dana White. After the event was over, Vakhitov and Pereira met backstage, where Vakhitov said he will focus on getting wins, and hopefully Alex holds onto the championship and they can meet again in the future. Alex told him he owed him one, in a scary, yet wholesome encounter, which you can see below.
