Hiroshi Tanahashi To Transfer To NJPW Office Role
Hiroshi Tanahashi’s in-ring career is coming to an end, and a new role is near.
Hiroshi Tanahashi Retirement
Earlier this month, Tanahashi announced that he will be retiring as a wrestler after his final match at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 on January 4, 2026, stating 2025 will be his last year as an in-ring competitor. In December 2023, Tanahashi was named the new president and representative director of NJPW, as well as being a competitor.
During a press conference recently, Tanahashi addressed his plans for his retirement. At one moment, he confirmed that he would transition into a full-time office role following his last match. (Translated by NJPW)
This time I have left as a wrestler and executive will give me a lot of valuable experience so I can transition into full-time office life with confidence. The people we have now are definitely more than capable to bring NJPW into its best era ever, and I have no concerns whatsoever,
Hiroshi Tanahashi is an 8-time world champion in NJPW since starting his career in 1999. Now, he has one full year left of active competition.
