WWE Raw Review (October 21st, 2024)
On October 21st, 2024 WWE aired the 1,639 episode of Raw live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania inside Wells Fargo Center.
Note: This review will be shorter then normal as it be the last few mins of the match.
-Kicking off this week’s Raw with Bronson Reed arriving to the arena but Seth Rollins attacks him from behind and storms down to the ring.
-Rollins says if Reed wants to be famous, he’ll make him famous. He demands that he come out to the ring but Adam Pearce and several officials instead appear trying to stop Rollins. Reed then appears and pushes his way through security then hits a Samoan Drop to Rollins and ascends to the top rope. Rollins rolls out of the ring before Reed can land a Tsunami on him then flies off the apron with a shoulder tackle and clears the announce desk. He lays Rollins on it but a security guard jumps him. Reed sends him crashing into all the other guards then looks to land a Tsunami on Rollins. Rollins moves out of the way and Reed is sent crashing through the announce desk.
-Backstage, Jackie Redmond spoke with Damage CTRL about facing Meta 4 on Tuesday’s NXT. Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez interrupted and dismissed Redmond. Morgan looked into the camera and addressed Women’s Champion Nia Jax and accused her of being jealous. Damage CTRL got annoyed. Morgan said that she & Rodriguez held the Women’s Tag Team Titles before and could hold them again whenever they want. Rodriguez looked down at Damage CTRL while Morgan agreed to face them in a Tag Team match.
Semi Final Match Of The World Tag Team Titles #1 Contenders Tournament
New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) vs. Authors Of Pain (Akam & Rezar)
Rezar catches Kofi Kingston and connects with a fallaway slam as R Truth attacks The Miz on the outside and rains down right hands on him.
He hits a boot to Karrion Kross’ face opening the door for Kingston to roll up Rezar for the win.
Winners: New Day (They will join War Raiders in the Finals)
-After the match Truth celebrates New Day’s win with them. The Final Testament & Miz blindside Truth with an attack and while Kingston looks to help Truth, Woods holds him back in the entrance ramp and tells him not to get involved. The lights then go out and when they come back on The Wyatt Sicks surround the ring and beats down Final Testament to provide a helping hand to Truth. Joe Gacy & Erick Rowan then powerbomb Dexter Lumis onto Authors Of Pain & Karrion Kross and brawl through the crowd as Miz watches from the ring. Uncle Howdy sneaks up behind Miz but Paul Ellering pushes him out of the ring. Uncle Howdy then locks in the Mandible Claw on Ellering and puts him to sleep.
-Backstage Jackie Redmond asked Raw General Manager Adam Pearce how he could get things under control. Bronson Reed showed up and then he was attacked by Seth Rollins. Security showed up. Rollins jumped off a production crate onto Reed before they were pulled apart.
-Highlights aired of Intercontinental Champion Jey Uso appearing on Smackdown and his exchange with Solo Sikoa’s version of The Bloodline as well as with Roman Reigns & Jimmy Uso.
-Jey Uso was interviewed by Cathy Kelley in the backstage area. Jey said he was ironically in the City of Brotherly Love when he has no love for his brothers right now. He said it is what it is. Jey shifted his focus to defending his title and promised that the fans would hear and still at the end of the night.
-A video promo aired with Raquel Rodriguez talking about how Rhea Ripley took out Liv Morgan’s shoulder and cost them the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Rodriguez said Ripley should walk away. Rodriguez said she knows Ripley and that won’t happen so she will be the one to end it
Tag Team Match
Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez vs. Damage CTRL (Kairi Sane & Iyo Sky)
Liv Morgan hits a step up knee to Iyo Sky in the corner then looks to fly off the middle rope.
Sky intercepts her with a strike then lands a dropkick off the apron and pulls Jakara Jackson into the ringside area.
Lash Legend clocks her with a strike causing the disqualification but Kairi Sane goes after her and dumps her in the ring with Sky.
Winners: No One (No Contest)
-After the match Meta 4 beat down Damage CTRL. Legend hits Lash Extension to SKY but Morgan & Rodriguez stare them down. Rhea Ripley’s music then hits and she makes her way out to ringside. She cinches in the Prism Trap on Morgan and sets up for Riptide but Dominik Mysterio saves Morgan. Ripley pulls Mysterio in the ring and locks in the Prism Trap on him but Rodriguez & Morgan pull him out of the ring to save him.
-We then head backstage and see Seth Rollins approach Adam Pearce backstage. Bronson Reed blindsides him but security pulls them apart and a frustrated Pearce makes a match between them at Crown Jewel official.
-A War Raiders vignette aired & they said they suffered setbacks that would end most men but they shed their armor and rose. They spoke about Viking warrior ancestors and how they now raid for gold.
-World Tag Team Champions Finn Balor & JD McDonagh & Carlito were in the Judgment Day clubhouse when Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez & Dominik Mysterio arrived. Rodriguez got fired up about what she wants to do to Rhea Ripley. Morgan said they need to focus on Nia Jax.
-Balor said he & McDonagh can beat any team in the world and expressed concern over Damian Priest going after the World Heavyweight Title. Mysterio brought up the possibility that he could beat Gunther for the title. Carlito laughed at him. Rodriguez asked what Carlito does. Carlito said he brings the cool factor. He said he would speak to Pearce about Mysterio becoming World Heavyweight Champion.
Semi Final Match Of The World Tag Team Titles #1 Contenders Tournament
Latino World Order (Rey Mysterio & Dragon Lee) vs. Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus)
Rey Mysterio dropkicks Julius Creed into the ropes and looks to dial it up for a 619.
Chad Gable hops up on the apron and captures his attention but Zelina Vega gets in their faces and hits a Tijeras to Nile.
This opens the door for Mysterio to hit a hurricanrana to Julius into the ropes and dial it up for a 619.
Dragon Lee then tags in and hits a Frog Splash to Julius for the win.
Winners: Latino World Order (They will join War Raiders & New Day in the Finals)
-Backstage Adam Pearce spoke with Damage CTRL and assured them he would talk with the other general managers and figure out as solution. After they left Carlito showed up and said he had to learn Chinese.
-Carlito recommended Dominik Mysterio as a challenger for Gunther. Pearce laughed and asked if he’s serious. Pearce said Mysterio hasn’t done anything to earn that opportunity and questioned why he didn’t make the request. Carlito said he’s the fixer, then begged Pearce before he said he would consider it if Mysterio can beat a former world champion next week.
-Bron Breakker was interviewed by Jackie Redmond in the backstage area. Breakker said he respects Jey Uso, but he isn’t focused because of his family drama. Breakker said he would take the title back. Breakker said he’s a badass and it was time to do what badasses do. Breakker asked if there were any dogs in Philly. Fans barked in response and then Breakker made his entrance.
-After the break we go backstage where World Heavyweight Champion Gunther was interviewed by Cathy Kelley. Gunther said Cody Rhodes drags his family into things and it was unnecessary for him to mention his daughter. Gunther said Rhodes is one of many, whereas he is one of one.
-Damian Priest entered the picture and told him to relax. Priest said he has no issue with Gunther. He said he handled his business with Judgment Day and now he wants his title back. Priest said he would earn the title shot just like he earns everything else. Priest told Gunther to handle his business at Crown Jewel and then he’d have a big problem waiting for him.
Intercontinental Title Match
Jey Uso (c) vs. Bron Breakker
Bron Breakker looks to land the Super Spear but Jey Uso connects with a pair of superkicks and a spear.
He ascends to the top rope and lands Uso Splash on Breakker then goes for a pin but Breakker kicks out.
Adam Pearce and other officials run down to the ring to escort Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa to the back.
Jey looks to land a spear on Breakker but Jacob Fatu clocks him with a superkick and hits a Samoan Drop to him on top of the announce desk.
Breakker then dumps Jey back in the ring and runs the ropes before hitting the Super Spear for the win.
