Mercedes Mone talked about one of the most memorable SmackDown episodes of the 2010s.
On the Halloween edition of WWE SmackDown in 2019, talent who were scheduled for the show were running late after the majority of them got stuck in Saudi Arabia.
This would result in the WWE making the call to the NXT roster to bring them in for one of the best episodes of SmackDown throughout that decade.
AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone would talk about the moment and how she reacted to it all on a recent edition of her Mone Mag.
“A couple of years ago, I remember when the WHOLE Smackdown crew- yes ALL the GUYS were late coming to SmackDown from Saudi Arabia! We had to call in a whole crew from NXT to SmackDown. We didn’t even know what was going on and, even more crazy- only girls were available. So literally one hour before, Shayna Baszler ended up attacking me. The show turned into the NXT Takeover. All due to the travel issues of the SmackDown crew. The audience was so surprised, and the talent was so surprised. It was such a skeleton crew but, it was a surprisingly good show! Surprises are fun sometimes, right?”
In the main event of that WWE SmackDown, Daniel Bryan was unsuccessful in his attempt at winning the WWE NXT Championship from Adam Cole.
