Kamaru Usman Clears The Air On Possible Short Notice Fight Against Shavkat Rakhmonov
If need be, Usman is ready.
Kamaru Usman vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov?
Shavkat Rakhmonov was scheduled to challenge Belal Muhammad for the UFC Welterweight Championship in December at UFC 310 in the main event. Sadly, an injury to Belal has cancelled that fight. Despite this, Shavkat wants to stay on the card and UFC is looking for a replacement opponent.
Kamaru Usman was a name that was rumored to be taking the fight, though that was never official. Now, speaking on n his Pound-4-Pound podcast, Kamaru has cleared the air on the rumor. It’s not official, but he’s willing to do it.
The UFC’s gonna call who they think is going to be a legit, tough enough, man enough, crazy enough to step in there on short notice, and go out there and possibly shock the world. Definitely the UFC knows who to call when that situation happens. And if they do give me a call, I’m gonna answer the call, get a couple things straight, and if we’ve got to do it, we’ve got to do it. I don’t shy away from any of that. I mean, I’ve done it on 7 days notice, I’ve done it on, no, 6 days notice, I’ve done it on 8 days notice, and, hey, this is only a couple weeks notice, but, it is what it is.
Will Kamaru be the one to step up and challenge Shavkat on December 7? That remains to be seen, but fans would love it! We’ll keep you updated on the potential fight, if its made official.
