Michael Chandler vs. Charles Oliveira is set for a five round co-main event this Saturday at UFC 309. Ahead of the bout, Michael Chandler has made the media rounds and landed on the Ariel Helwani Show. During the interview, Ariel made mention of the one knock on Charles Oliveira in the past, is that many believed he was a “quitter” when it came to tough moments in the fight.
Ariel mentioned that the sediment of “quitter” has now died down, but asked if Michael Chandler believed he still an element of that quit still in him.
I do. I do. I’m not calling him a quitter, but I do know I didn’t put myself in the position to fight him for long enough, to put pressure on him for long enough, to instill second-guessing and doubts into his mind and spirit for long enough for that exit sign to be found. This time, I think we will.
The two fought back in 2021, where Charles won via TKO 19 seconds into the second round. Now, the rematch is upon us and Chandler is more confident than ever.
