Karine Silva Says It’s A Struggle For Someone To Accept A Fight Against Her
Karine Silva wants the gold, but it’s not easy.
Karine Silva vs. Viviane Araujo
UFC’s Women’s Flyweight division is stacked with contenders, but no one wants to fight, according to Karine Silva. This Saturday at UFC 309, Karine Silva takes on Viviane Arujo in a fight that could boost either one towards title contention.
Karine is currently 5-0 in the UFC and says it’s hard for her to get fights. During the media day interviews, Karine Silva was asked about her goal of being champion and what would it take to get there. She responded by saying, despite not thinking past this weekend, she knows that it’s hard to get fights because no one will accept to fight her.
Obviously my focus and my entire energy is there on Saturday. But, I’ve looked at it and the biggest difficulty, even though we’re not thinking that far ahead, is girls to actually accept fights. Because that’s one of the difficulties we have. Who’s going to take the fight against me? Not thinking about that right now, focus on Saturday, but, right now all the energy is what happens on Saturday.
Karine has 4 finishes in her five UFC wins, and Viviane hasn’t had a finished anyone since 2019. But, a win over Araujo could boost Silva up in the rankings and force UFC to give her bigger fights. You can see the full card for UFC 309 here.
