Jon Jones Thinks The Most Skilled Heavyweight In History Is Daniel Cormier
Bad blood, but can still give props.
Who’s The Best Heavyweight?
Jon Jones is set to defend his Heavyweight Championship in just his second fight in the division, against Stipe Miocic this Saturday at UFC 309.
Heading into the fight, it’s being built up as the greatest of all time, Jon Jones, versus the greatest Heavyweight of all time, Stipe Miocic. Well, Jon was asked if he really thinks Stipe is the best Heavyweight ever during his media day interview, where he revealed that he actually thinks the most skilled is long time rival, Daniel Cormier.
I think actually Daniel Cormier is probably the most skilled. His Olympic level wrestling, his dirty boxing, his boxing. But, Stipe’s beat Daniel Cormier. Stipe, he deserves to be here, man. He can wrestle, he always comes lean and in shape, he has great cardio and he has that right hand. You know, whether it’s the straight right, overhand right or the right upper cut, that’s his real weapon, that’s his ticket. We’re very aware of that and we’re very prepared for that.
Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier have a storied rivalry full of bad blood, spanning over multiple years and multiple fights. But, that was at light-heavyweight. Now, Jon steps up a division and has the chance to call himself the Heavyweight G.O.A.T. You can see the full card for UFC 309 here.
