Chris Jericho Retains The ROH Championship On AEW Dynamite
Chris Jericho remains the Nueve.
Chris Jericho vs. Tomohiro Ishii
Chris Jericho defended his Ring Of Honor Championship against Tomohiro Ishii tonight after Jericho put Ishii on the shelf months back when he smashed his leg with a chair. After Jericho defeated Mark Briscoe for the ROH Title, Ishii returned and set his sights on the leader of the Learning Tree.
Both men kicked off the match with a chop battle, and of course, the big man Ishii got the best of it. Jericho started to battle back after poking Ishii in the eye, then DDT’ing him on the apron. Jericho had control on the outside of the ring and had the big man reeling.
As the match went on, another chop battle broke out, but this time, they started slapping each other across the face. One hard slap from Ishii ended up busting Jericho’s mouth and he started to bleed. This was the turning point for the challenger to get back in control.
They fought to the corner, where Jericho then Suplex’d Ishii off the top rope, but Tomohiro Ishii wouldn’t stay down. Ishii went for a slap but got reversed into a German Suplex. Jericho then tried for the Judas effect, but Ishii reversed it. Jericho ended up hitting the Lion-Sault for a nearfall.
Jericho hit a Judas effect and a code breaker, but Ishii kicked out at one. Ishii hit two head-butts on Jericho for a nearfall on his end. Ishii then hit Jericho with a code-breaker followed by a lariat for another near fall.
In the end, Chris Jericho hit two more Judas effects to keep Ishii down and retain his gold.
