Brody King grabs 3 points to kick off the C2
Brody King vs. Darby Allin
More Gold League action in the Continental classic was the main event of AEW Dynamite when Brody King took on Darby Allin. Darby came into the match beat up, as he had his ribs and head bandaged up after he crashed a car into the Death Riders car at AEW Full Gear.
Darby coming in banged up was enough, but against Brody King was a whole other issue. Brody was tossing Allin around like a rag doll from the early going’s and had the referee checking on Darby multiple times. These two are no strangers to each other, being former rivals. So, Brody knew he had to stay on Darby and not give him any time to breathe. Brody was tossing Darby around on the outside, throwing him into the barricade before taking him back into the ring, just for Darby to get out of the ring again.
Allin was trying to stay away from Brody King to catch a bit of a break, but he just couldn’t. Brody caught him and hit a huge swinging slam to cause more damage to the hurt ribs of Darby. Brody went for a cannon ball splash on the outside, but Darby moved and had Brody crashing against the barricade.
Darby’s control didn’t last long, as King ended up drilling Darby with a cannonball in the ring anyway. They went to go up top, but Darby bit Brody’s hand and head to take back control before hitting a code-red off the top rope for a near fall.
Darby finally started to catch a break and was on a roll, hitting King with a suicide dive, then two coffin drops on the outside. Darby tried to hit another one in the ring, but Brody caught him into a choke, then hit the gonzo bomb for the win. Destructive main event!
Following the match, Claudio Castagnoli came out with a chair to seemingly try to attack Darby Allin, but Brody King stood in his way to prevent it. Brody and Claudio battle in the C2 next week.
