Three Fights To Look Out For: UFC 310

Are you excited for UFC 310?

Underrated Fights?

UFC 310 is live this Saturday on Pay-Per-View, live from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show is headlined by Alexandre Pantoja and Kai Asakura for the UFC Flyweight Championship. The main card also features Shavkat Rakhmonov vs. Ian Garry, Cirly Gane vs. Alexander Volkov and so much more. But, what are three fights to look out for on this card that you may not know about? Let’s get into it.

Chase Hooper vs. Clay Guida

We kick things off with the second fight of the night on the early prelims, which gets underway at 6PM ET on UFC Fight Pass and ESPN+. Chase Hooper vs. Clay Guida is certainly a fight you don’t want to miss. This is the epitome of young guy vs. grizzled vet. Clay Guida has been in the UFC since 2006, where he won his debut at UFC 64 via second Pune submission. Now, almost 20 years later, he’s still in the UFC, already is apart of the UFC Hall Of Fame in the ‘Fight Wing’, and has continued to prove that despite being 42, he still has something left in the tank.

Though he’s on a two fight losing streak, they were both by decision, and he proved that he can still go in all aspects of MMA. Now, the 38-24 verteran takes a step back to challenge himself against a newcomer to the division in Chase Hooper. Chase has a record of 14-3, but has been undefeated at 3-0 since moving from featherweight up to lightweight. The 25 year old has had two back-to-back submission victories and is looking for another one against Clay, who was last submitted in 2022.

Chase ‘The Dream’ Hooper shocked the world when he submitted his toughest test yet in Viacheslav Borshchev back in May. Now, he looks to continue his winning ways against Clay Guida, a man who’s not known for backing down. Plus, with Chase’s continuous growth in the boxing realm, I suspect this fight will be all fire-works, so don’t miss out on that early prelim card. Chase is a -1050 favorite per UFC.

Bryan Battle vs. Randy Brown

Kicking off the main portion of the prelims at 8 PM ET on ESPN+ and ESPN 2, is Randy Brown vs. Bryan Battle. This has excitement written all over it. Randy Brown is currently 19-5, on a three fight win streak and is quickly climbing the ranks of the Welterweight division. With 7 knockouts and 5 submissions in his 19 wins, Randy has been on a role recently and vows to become a champion in the near future. In fact, one of his 5 career losses is against current UFC Champion Belal Muhammad, who he took to a decision. ‘Rude Boy’ has touted his training changes and says he feels better than ever as he looks to derail his opponents hype train.

Bryan Battle on the other hand, is standing across the cage from Randy on Saturday night with a record of 11-2. Bryan is currently on a 4 fight unbeaten streak with three of those wins coming by way of finish. He has 4 knockouts and 5 submission wins in his 11 victories and is most recently coming off a TKO win back in September in France, where he then cut ‘Promo Of The Year’ in many eyes when he said “I know y’all didn’t think The Butcher was going to lose in a fist-fight to a French dude!” He indeed did not lose. Bryan has only 1 UFC loss, which is by decision, and another loss early on as a pro.

Now, it feels like both Randy and Bryan are starting to really ‘click’ in terms of their UFC careers. Sadly for one of them, defeat is on the way. But, it shouldn’t be anything less than exciting. If I had to pick one fight to look out for, this would be it! Tune into those prelims because fun will be had. Battle is a -280 favorite per UFC.

Aljamain Sterling vs. Mosvar Evloev

Last on the list is another prelim fight that absolutely should not be a prelim fight. For some reason, the UFC has put Aljamain Sterling vs. Movsar Evloev in the dead center of the prelims (Following Brown vs. Battle), which baffled many fans and media alike. The 24-4 Aljamain Sterling is a former UFC Bantamweight Champion who was on a 9 fight win streak before losing his title and moving up to Featherweight. In his Featherweight debut, he defeated former title contender Calvin Kattar at UFC 300, and it’s very likely that a win at UFC 310 could get him a shot at the UFC Featherweight gold.

Standing across from Sterling is Movsar Evloev, reigning undefeated at 18-0. Movsar has disposed the likes of Arnold Allen, Diego Lopes and Dan Ige. But, in 8 UFC wins, he’s not finished a single one. That remains the knock on Evloev, as it seems he cannot find a knockout or a submission in the UFC. But, if he were to go out and finish former champion Aljamain Sterling, there would be no doubt that he would be next for Featherweight gold. With stakes this high, and a possible championship title fight on the line, it’s blasphemy that this fight is in the middle of the prelims. But, at least you can see it for free on ESPN+ or ESPN2. Mosvar is a -250 favorite per UFC.

Those are my 3 fights to look out for this Saturday at UFC 310. But, don’t miss any of the action this weekend on ESPN+ and Pay-Per-View. Streaks will be broken and new stars will be made in the last PPV of the year!
