Alexandre Pantoja Recalls His Initial Thoughts On UFC 310 Bout

Pantoja knows a challenge awaits 

Alexandre Pantoja is set to defend his Flyweight gold against the debuting Kai Asakura tonight at UFC 310 in the main event. The event set in Las Vegas, Nevada is the final Pay-Per-View of 2024.

It’s not typical that a debuting fighter gets a title shot right off the bat, but, with his impressive run in RIZIN, there’s no doubt Kai Asakura deserves it. On UFC Embedded, we saw a behind the scenes of the fighter meeting between Alexandre Pantoja and members of the UFC staff, including Jon Anik, who asked the champion what his thoughts were when he got the call to fight the Japanese superstar.

Excited, you know? The opportunity to fight good like him, superstar in Japan totally different, fighting style different, Bantamweight, he’s a challenge. I feel super good, super confident and happy because I have a tough challenge, Asakura showed how good he are (is) and like, that’s why UFC brings him. 

UFC 310 kicks off tonight on ESPN+ for the prelims at 6PM ET, which the main card kicking off on Pay-Per-View at 10PM. Bodyslam will have coverage of the event.
