PFL Grants Patricio Pitbull His Release

The saga is over.

Patricio Pitbull Gone From PFL

For several weeks now, Patricio Pitbull (36-7) has taken to social media and basically begged to be let go from his PFL contract. The former Bellator Champion was unhappy with the way PFL has used Bellator talent since the merger, and had exclaimed that they were essentially refusing to give him a fight.

Pitbull tweeted out at anyone he could who is involved with PFL, including management, investors and other fighters, trying to get a release. Well, it finally happened. After firing off a few tweets and even tagging Francis Ngannou to explain his frustration, PFL founder and chairman Don Davis made a post saying that the company has officially granted Pitbull his release.

This comes just hours after the official announcement that PFL has fully merged with Bellator and the Bellator branding will be no more. All former Bellator fighters on the PFL roster will simply just be PFL fighters, now.

This came to a surprise by many, including fighters such as former Bellator competitor and current champion Corey Anderson, who took to social media to reveal that he found this news out via his wife.

Not the best look for PFL, not even letting the champions know the news. But, Patricio did get what he wanted and is now released. In terms of if he’s a free agent immediately, that’s unclear. But, he did express a lot of interest in going UFC, so we’ll see how that ends up.
