Erick Nicksick Explains His Dislike Towards UFC Referee Mark Smith After Early Stoppage
Erick Nicksick isn’t happy.
Chris Curtis took on Roman Kopylov this past Saturday at UFC’s Fight Night Event in the Apex. The two went to war, with the third round ending after Roman dropped Chris with a head kick, and referee Mark Smith stepped in with one second left on the clock, with no follow up shots, to end the fight in Roman’s favor.
Many have debated if the stoppage was too early, since Curtis was up on a knee, if they should’ve just let the fight go to decision, or if it was the correct call. Now, Chris Curtis’ coach Erick Nicksick sat down on his Versus Us podcast where he says he feels like fighting with Mark Smith as a referee, feels like you’re fighting two people.
Erick explained how there was two infractions in one round by Kopylov, and the ref didn’t take any points away, then the early stoppage, and says he’s had issues with Mark in the past. You can see his comments below.
Coach Erick Nicksick explains why he was so mad at the Chris Curtis stoppage “Everytime I see Mark Smith, I think to myself, we’re now fighting two people”
Do you think it was a fair or early stoppage?
