Hulk Hogan Talks About Kenny Omega Not Coming To WWE
As we reported prior to Wrestle Kingdom 13, Kenny Omega is finished with New Japan Pro Wrestling and will indeed be leaving the company when his contract is up at the end of the month.
WWE had reportedly offered Omega a huge multi-million dollar long term deal, although there are conflicting reports as to whether or not the amount of money said to have been offered is exaggerated. However, we also first reported that Kenny Omega has decided against going to WWE, and plans to sign with All Elite Wrestling instead.
WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan spoke to Sports Illustrated recently, and he addressed the reports that Kenny Omega has decided against signing with WWE, potentially never coming into the company.
Regarding Kenny Omega never competing for WWE, Hulk Hogan said:
“It’s tough to go your whole life without eating at McDonald’s or riding in a Chevrolet. If you don’t touch on the WWE, the story’s not complete. But maybe Kenny could be the exception.”
“I fell in love with Japan in 1978. Times were different back then, there were no cell phones or internet. There was no cross-promotion of social media platforms, and you couldn’t watch my matches in Tokyo or Fukuoka or Osaka like you can now. I wasn’t married until December of ’83, and I hadn’t started a family yet, so in ’78 I was over there running hard.”
It has also been reported that WWE did everything they could in efforts to sign Kenny Omega. However, in the end it appears that Omega is opting to venturing into uncharted waters with his friends in The Elite.
