Update On John Cena’s Status For WWE’s Royal Rumble PPV
WWE had previously announced that John Cena suffered an injury last week and that his status for the Royal Rumble was up in the air. It now sounds as though despite being advertised to appear tomorrow, that John Cena will not be appearing at the Royal Rumble.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reports that sources within WWE have told him that John Cena was never in the company’s plans for Sunday’s Royal Rumble in Phoenix.
Regarding John Cena and the Royal Rumble, Meltzer said:
“Cena, yeah let’s put it this way from what I’m told the people who work in the company, the people who work in creative were always under the impression that Cena is not working the Rumble and they would be very surprised if he is because there is no reason to lie about that one.”
This is very unusual that it’s being said WWE had no plans for John Cena at the Royal Rumble because he is all over promotional material in Phoenix advertising tomorrows PPV. Meltzer went on to note that Cena not being at the Rumble is a “weird one” after WWE has been advertising Cena to appear even after his “injury”.
We will keep you updated if we hear anything more regarding John Cena’s status or the Royal Rumble pay-per-view tomorrow in Phoenix.
