Dave Meltzer discussed on the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE’s announcement that the Women’s Royal Rumble match will involve 30 superstars. Meltzer mentions that this will probably lead to some surprise entrants as well as entrants that are not on the RAW or SmackDown rosters.
Currently there are a combined total of 19 female WWE Superstars on the RAW and SmackDown Live brand rosters, which leaves numerous slots for WWE to fill with surprises. Names that have been mentioned include The Bella Twins, Beth Phoenix – who was just recently announced as a commentator on the new Mixed Match Challenge show, as well as a possible Ronda Rousey debut. While it has been noted that Rousey is off filming a movie, it is believed that she could easily take time off and make her debut at the Royal Rumble.
This also leaves room for some of the women on the NXT roster to appear in the Women’s Rumble match. It has been speculated that possibly Ember Moon, Nikki Cross, and Peyton Royce might appear in the match. Many of the women from NXT were seen backstage at last night’s SmackDown Live event from Orlando, but it should be noted that NXT is based in Orlando and that a lot of other NXT stars were backstage for the show.
