Shinsuke Nakamura had a good run in NXT where he won the NXT Championship and competed in some terrific matches. However, his time on the main roster hasn’t been as good. A year ago he was headed into a major WWE Title match against AJ Styles at Wrestlemania after he won the Royal Rumble, but now he isn’t a priority anymore.
Dave Meltzer discussed this situation duringWrestling Observer Radio. When he signed with WWE, Shinsuke relocated his family to Florida. Since his family likes it there, it seems that that is the sole reason why he’s still working for the company.
“He’s not doing anything. He’s checked out. He’s just out there to… his family likes Florida. He’s out there to surf. He’s kinda on his pension now, you know what I mean?”
Nakamura is an immensely talented superstar who WWE is not using properly anymore. Perhaps they might somewhere down the line. So till then, he will tag along with Rusev for the time being and just enjoy surfing in Florida.
