Brian “Road Dogg” James’ New Role Within WWE Revealed
It was reported yesterday that Brian “Road Dogg” James had resigned from his position as co-head writer for SmackDown Live. Initial reports had stated that James was tired of the script constantly being changed by Vince McMahon, leading to him stepping down from his role within the company.
This led to a lot of speculation as to what Road Dogg’s future exactly was. Would he assume another role within WWE? Others speculated that Road Dogg could potentially be joining his former New Age Outlaws partner Billy Gunn in AEW. However, we can now put the speculation to rest as it is now being reported that James will be taking on a new position within WWE.
According to a report from Pro Wrestling Sheet, Brian “Road Dogg” James’ role in WWE has changed due to the new deal with FOX, and that he will now be used as a “utility player” within the company. His new role will require more flexibility as to determine where James will be best suited within WWE further down the road.
In addition, it was also stated that Road Dogg did not “step down” or resign as was previously reported. Instead, it is now said that the decision was agreed upon by all parties included, and that it was ultimately determined that this move would be the best way to go about things going forward.
Lastly, it is said that James transitioning out of his role as co-head writer for SmackDown was reportedly not a “contentious decision.”
We will keep you updated when we hear anything more about what Brian “Road Dogg” James’ new responsibilities within WWE will be after no longer taking on the role of SmackDown Co-Head Writer.
