WWE Has Concerns Internally With Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar & WrestleMania 34 Main Event
On the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentions that there appears to be some internal concern with the planned Main Event match for WrestleMania 34 between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship.
Meltzer indicated that the concern could stem from accused steroid dealer Richard Rodriguez claiming that he has evidence that implicates WWE Superstar Roman Reigns. WWE needs a backup plan in place just in case the accusations against Roman end up being serious.
There could also be some concerns within the company regarding Brock Lesnar, as he no-showed last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW after being heavily advertised for the show. Lesnar has also been rumored to be involved and possibly implicated in the Rodriguez steroid scandal along with Roman Reigns.
Meltzer went on to explain that WWE is basically leaving Braun Strowman’s WrestleMania schedule open, as he would be used as the backup plan in case things don’t pan out with Lesnar or Reigns. This would explain why WWE decided to drop plans for the rumored Strowman vs Miz match for the IC Title at WrestleMania.
“I don’t know if they are going to go with Strowman and Reigns with Lesnar but if something happens with Lesnar, obviously Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman is the only match that you could put in that spot. If something happens with Roman Reigns and something still could, Strowman is the only other guy you could put in that spot as well.”
“There is concern about Roman Reigns for sure, but right now the idea is that he’s the Main Event at WrestleMania. There is a Braun Strowman backup plan clearly in place.”
Meltzer went on to suggest that Elias could be Strowman’s opponent at WrestleMania 34 if nothing substantial comes from the Rodriguez accusations, and that there are no implications with Brock Lesnar’s WWE status.
“The could go with Strowman vs. Elias, if they have Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.”
