WWE hasn’t been in the right light when it comes to third party deals. The company has gone head-to-head with their very own talent on what they can and can’t do with third party deals such as Twitch and cameo. Top talents like AJ Styles, Paige and Xavier Woods have used the third party deals to increase their profile and earn profit, and WWE have weighed in to take part of that profit.
In a recent interview with Wrestling Inc, Booker T also discussed this and more. Booker T wrestled at a time in which Twitch, Tik Tok, YouTube and other platforms didn’t exist. Third party deals did exist, however they involved things like commercials and movies. Booker T was heavy on doing what’s best for the company, and he made sure he mentioned the protocols that talent need to follow.
Booker T said,
“One thing about the business and working in the business for 30 years, there has always been a protocol,” he said. “There has always been a route to go for stuff like that. Back in my day we didn’t have Tik-Tok, Twitter, Cameo. I’m sure this generation is going to have to figure out how to make stuff like that work for truly going into business and making it work for themselves. It’s a touch-and-go situation they are going to have to work out.”
